Kevin Halenda, MD
Ophthalmology
Kevin Halenda, MD, joins the West Virginia University Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences as an assistant professor.
A Murrysville, Pennsylvania native, Dr. Halenda completed the Glaucoma Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic and completed his ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Georgia. He earned his medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Halenda’s main interests in the field of ophthalmology are surgical innovation and the teaching side of medicine. He noted that WVU’s role as an educational medical institution played a large role in his decision to come to Morgantown.
Halenda also said that he is excited to work at the Eye Institute because of the crucial role it plays in serving the entire state of West Virginia, as well as the surrounding states.
“What excites me about working at the Eye Institute is that it is a major tertiary care center for such a large area that serves what would otherwise be an underserved population,” Halenda said. “Having the opportunity to help so many people who may not have access to eyecare in their hometown is part of what drew me to West Virginia University.”
In his spare time, Halenda can be found playing tennis, hiking, or playing the trumpet
