James “Lewis” Akers, DO

Nephrologist

James “Lewis” Akers, DO, is a native of Ripley, WV and earned his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV. He completed both his internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown.

He has extensive research and laboratory experience, as well as numerous honors and awards for his accomplishments, which include being named “Best Teaching Intern.” He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, American College of Physicians, and American Medical Association.
